Dr. Chatzigeorgiou Giorgos| Post-doc Research Fellow, HCMR-IMBBC| Scientific Responsible|Leader WP 1&4

Dr. Chatzigeorgiou Giorgos  is a post doc researcher in the Institute of Marine Biology, Biotechnology and Aquaculture (IMBBA) of the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR). His research interests cover a range of issues, many of which fall within the scope of Marine ecology, systematic and conservation of marine shallow habitats. He is a member of Scientific Diving Team of HCMR, with great experience in underwater photography and visual census. He is also specialized in biology, ecology and systematic of benthic species (polychaetes). In addition, he has great experience in designing new sampling devices and experimental setups for underwater experiments / habitat mapping, sampling hard bottom communities with distractive and non- distractive techniques. He has published 22 scientific papers and participated in several scientific conferences.

Skouradakis Grigoris|  PhD Candidate, HCMR-IMBBC, University of Crete| Leader WP2

Mr. Skouradakis Gregory  (BSc Marine biology, MSc Environmental biology) is a PhD candidate at the Biology Department of the University of Crete and the Institute of Marine Biology, Biotechnology and Aquaculture (IMBBA) of the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR). His research interests cover a range of topics including Biology of Bivalves, Marine Ecology and Fish Physiology & Behavior. He is a member of the Scientific Diving Team of HCMR with experience in destructive & non – destructive invertebrate sampling methods and visual census. He is also specialized in Recirculating Marine Systems and in experimental design utilizing such systems for Physiological and Behavioral studies of marine invertebrates and fish. His past involvement in the private sector (Aquaculture and Aquarium trade) has offered him the opportunity to work with many Indo-Pacific Species and by doing so has attained a valuable knowledge of their taxonomy and their potential to invade and establish in the Eastern Mediterranean sea.

Androulakis Dimitris|  PhD Candidate, HCMR-IMBBC, University of Patra| Leader WP3

Mr. Androulakis Dimitrios  is a Dipl. Mechanical and Aeronautics Engineer, currently he is a PhD candidate in a collaboration between the Institute of Marine Biology, Biotechnology and Aquaculture (IMBBC) of the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR) and the Fluid Mechanics Laboratory of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics of the University of Patras. His research interests consist of fluid dynamics (both experimental and computational), the interaction between the marine environment and artificial structures (concerning hydrodynamic flow regimes and technical integrity), the installation/maintenance of scientific sensors and instruments and the data analysis and coupling between various environmental datasets. In the last five years he has participated in 10 research projects, with sampling tasks and field work (research vessels/boats/diving) of more than 200 days. He is also author or co-author of 10 scientific papers and reports.

Dr. Dounas Konstaninos| Research Director, HCMR-IMBBC

Dr. Dounas Constantinos is a Research Director in HCMR – IMBBC. Project coordinator or scientific responsible of numerous European and National R&D projects, and author of more than 60 international scientific publications. His research interests include: the implementation of a network of underwater diving parks with artificial reefs along the Cretan coasts; marine biodiversity and taxonomy of Crustacea and Sponges; Coastal zone management; Marine protected zones; Fishing gear effects.

Dr. Arvanitidis Christos | Research Director, HCMR-IMBBC

Research ID: >6 M€. More than 100 peer-reviewed scientific articles. Guest editor in Marine Ecology Progress Series, Journal of Sea Research, member of the editorial board of Transitional Waters Bulletin, Associate Editor of Frontiers in Marine Science and Biodiversity Data Journal, Handling Editor in Mediterranean Marine Science; reviewer in more than 45 international peer-reviewed journals. Member of: Board of MARS (European Network of Marine Research Institutes and Stations), Society for the Marine European Biodiversity Data (SMEBD), editorial board of the Word Register of Marine Species (WoRMS), scientific advisory council of the International Polychaete Association (IPA), ICES task group 6 working on the seafloor integrity (EU MSDF), expert pool for the UN World Ocean Assessment and member of the Scientific Council of the Institut Méditerranéen de Biodiversité et d’Ecologie marine et continentale (IMBE), Marseille. Coordinator of the LifeWatchGreece Research Infrastructure. Arvanitidis’ research focuses on marine biodiversity, functional diversity, biodiversity informatics and coastal ecosystems. He works on the comparisons of marine biodiversity information patterns deriving from various biological organization levels and scales of observation, trying to develop new approaches to explore their interrelationships.
